Sometimes situations crop up, and you may find that you can no longer keep your pet. There are many resources available to help you during this time. Download our Re-homing Flyer for suggestions before considering surrendering to our shelter.

If you have no luck re-homing your pet on your own and wish for your pet to be considered for admissions at PAWS Humane, please complete the following steps:

Email the following information to admissions@pawshumane.org. Phone calls and voicemails for owner surrendering will not be accepted.

  • Pictures/videos of your pet
  • Medical history
  • Age
  • Reason you wish to surrender
  • List of resources you’ve already tried to re-home your pet with

A surrender fee of $50 to help cover the cost of the care of the animal will be required to relinquish your pet. Admission hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. If an appointment is made for you, before coming in, download the Owner Surrender Form and fill out as completely as possible. This information will help us to find the best possible placement for your pet.

If you are to find a stray animal, please contact Columbus Animal Care and Control at (706) 653-4512 or take found animal to 4912 Milgen Road in Columbus, Georgia. Paws Humane can not take in ANY stray animals; therefore, ALL stray animals must be taken directly to Columbus Animal Care and Control.
